HISTORY ASPECTS:
The Tiger I Mid Production Version emerged in 1943 as a refined iteration of Germany's fearsome heavy tank, addressing many of the mechanical and operational shortcomings of the earlier models. This version featured key upgrades such as steel road wheels replacing the earlier rubber-rimmed ones, a redesigned commander’s cupola offering improved visibility, and an improved turret traverse mechanism. These enhancements reflected the Wehrmacht’s evolving battlefield needs and lessons learned from the Eastern Front.
Tiger I Mid Versions were heavily engaged during the Battle of Kursk in July 1943, the largest tank battle in history. There, they played a central role in Operation Citadel, Germany’s last major offensive in the east. Although the battle ultimately ended in Soviet victory, the Tiger's superior armor and 88mm gun inflicted severe losses on Soviet armor. Tigers from units like the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 and 505 also fought in Ukraine, Italy, and later in Normandy, holding strategic points and delaying Allied advances with their formidable firepower.
Throughout late 1943 and 1944, the Mid Production Tigers were increasingly used in defensive roles as Germany lost the strategic initiative. Despite being outnumbered, these tanks frequently proved their worth by taking out multiple enemy vehicles before being disabled or withdrawn. However, their heavy weight, fuel consumption, and maintenance demands limited their strategic mobility, a growing disadvantage as the Allies pressed in from both east and west.=
This 1:35 scale model captures the powerful presence of this legendary tank with authentic detail—steel wheels, Zimmerit coating, and battlefield accessories included. Ideal for history buffs and scale model enthusiasts alike, it's a tribute to the engineering and battlefield legacy of one of WWII’s most iconic armored vehicles.
