The ETA-2 Actis-class Interceptor, commonly known as the Jedi Starfighter, was developed during the Clone Wars for the Jedi Order. Compact, agile, and extremely fast, it relied on Jedi reflexes and the Force rather than heavy shielding or armor.
The distinctive green Jedi Starfighter flown by Obi-Wan Kenobi and the blue version flown by Anakin Skywalker became some of the most recognizable starfighters of the prequel trilogy.
The Vulture-class Droid Starfighters served as the primary space superiority fighters of the Separatist Alliance. Operated by battle droid intelligence instead of human pilots, they were deployed in enormous numbers throughout the Clone Wars and became a constant threat to Republic forces.
The opening battle over Coruscant in Revenge of the Sith featured one of the largest space battles ever created for a Star Wars film, with thousands of digital spacecraft filling the screen during the rescue of Chancellor Palpatine.
